Remember, the nights are getting darker much earlier, and the temperature is dropping. Don't get caught short with the sudden change in weather.

However, with the change in season, these checks should be done more regular and are essential for all drivers. Remember, the last thing any of us want is to break down, or have an accident in the harsh weather conditions that come with winter driving.

Be Prepared

Finally, be prepared for the worst case scenario. If the weather is bad, ask yourself - "do I really need to go out?" If you really must drive out in bad conditions, a few things you should have with you are; blanket, snow shovel, jump leads, torch, tow rope, de-icer and a fully charged mobile (or better still, have an in car charger). It's also worth while keeping a spare coat, wellingtons, scarf and gloves in the car in case you have to abandon it. If you're going on a long journey, take a flask of hot drink/soup with you, and let people know when you are setting off and heading to your destination.
